Title: Project trueno
Post by: AE86_difter on December 12, 2004, 05:52:38 PM
well i started my official project.  im not going to start anymore projects, i swear, until this one is done.

im mostly going to do texturing and ini since moddeling doesnt go well for me.

the story:

a japanese person bought a US spec trueno coupe (base by ravage wolf)
from ebay(aahh ebay...)

lol

anyways.

this is what i did so far:

- brembo brakes (didnt work to good, since you cant see the brake disc)

- japanese license plate (yes the numbers are not set to the AE specs but only japanese people will know that  :P )

- SSR StarShark II (by endo)

- lowered front (back still to do)

still to do:

- levin front conversion (since model is actually levin model)

- different paint maybe

- different interior; textures & models (if some one can help me with the models)

- better spring setup

- more power (lol)

- different exhaust (if some one can help me with this too)

thats it for now.

i wanna make it a drift car but not like d1, just regular street racer look.

hope you like so far and if anyone can help me either post here or pm me please.

thanks

BTW hope you dont mind me making a new threat but no one ever looks at my other one.

C&C WELCOME!!!

actually... the whole plate is fake/wrong..

but most people wouldnt notice that as you said..

i'm not sure, but you may have to change some textures on the rear too since levins and truenos have different taillights (havent seen the tails on that particular model to know which it has)

anywho, this is the best i've seen from you so far (even if it IS still legoing)

not bad..

anywho, instead of asking for so much help, you should dive in and give things a go.. and learn by trial and error.. the exhaust is easy since it's just a tube or cylinder or surface of revolution.

the rest should be pretty easily done..

anywho, keep at it.

- brembo brakes (didnt work to good, since you cant see the brake disc)

Well, you have to assign materials and define them in the car.shd as well.
The best way to put this together is IMO:
- importing the brakedisc and caliper in the dof-file of the wheel, for example lwheel.dof
- movin' them to the right position
- assign materials
- fuse wheel+brakedisc
- export this part as wheel.dof
- export the caliper as separate .dof (separetely defined in the ini under wheels), f.e. lcaliper.dof
- then reopen both dof's and mirror and reorient and save them f.e. as rwheel.dof/rcaliper.dof

btw better learn to built cars from scratch instead of making fuxx0red little mods no one wants cuz they can do them in 5 minutes... sorry for that, but's my opinion

well i dont mind you saying its bad and stuff and that no one cares, but i got ot leearn modding before modelling lol, so i get the feel on how racer wrks on different changes.

anyways.

thanks RE turbo G for the comments  :D

i know how to model the exhaust just not how to get it in the game since i have tried and nothing works. either the car turned transparent, or it didnt show up even though i combined it with the body in the dof file.

i think i need to make a new texture of the car (skin) but do i have to take apart the whole car??? (i mean to get the exhaust in the texture)

also 4th Floor

i cant open .shd files in 3d max 4 and zmodeler.

how can i do it????

thnx guys and i will give an update soon.

It looks great!  All I suggest is better textures.

I feel kinda scared around here with all these Trueno lovers...

lol scared in a joking way...   I know most of the people around here from other boards, just didn't post till now :P

Yeah I do mean the body textures such as lights and such.  THey are a little pixelated.

hmm hard task to make them unpixelated looking since that always happens to corners no matter what.

anyways i have a question.

still im wondering on how ot open the .shd file.

the other is if he modelled in the trueno lights or did he just make the model and use textures for the lights??

other whise i can just use a levin light and grill texture and put it on.

k well got the head light textures and the grill but im going to model them when i figure out how to open the .shd file.

here is a screenie with just the textures on.

this is just a mock up to see fi the textures looked good enlarged.

i know it looks bad but it going to look better when i model them

oh yea and i know the corners dont match up

I absolutely love the idea of you making it a Levin coupe (I have a good friend who owns one), but you have do to it right....Here's some photos of the headlights (zenki Levin front, except for the brochure...and yes, the headlights vary between Zenki & Kouki):

I hope these help you with the high res textures that should be used for this front end.  Just let me know if I can help you find more detail shots of the Levin front end...I know plenty of people who own them, and a few spots on the net for photos.  The biggest problem with what you did, IMHO, is that the mesh grille is still there, and the lights are horribly low res (size obviously wasn't a factor for this test fit).  I do understand that modelling a new Levin bumper would be a bitch, and it's going to take a little bit of time.  Endo's going to release a Levin, but I hope you can finish before he does...almost like a beta to his release.   I really hope you do a good job on this, though....definately my favorite car of all time (AE86).

Later,
Brendan/"LevinTruenoAE86"

Looks good, I hope your gona change it to Levin project lol. I would change the front bumper also. One question, is there .dof files in the folder or an .ar file? Because if it's .ar you can't remodel anything.

I have one more question..... Where is that D1 track at? I need it to test my Frontier with.

levin: thanx dude those really help.

HokusaiXL: yes its .ar but if racesim central comes up, ever, then i can model cause he realesed the body as a dof file there somewhere i believe.

this will prob put a halt to the project and maybe i can start working on the textures some more.

ill probably try some more stuff in 3d max, maybe get a little better lol.
