Very nice all around.  This car just gets better and better.  However, I spotted a little glitch.  When the lights are on and the view is set to the driver's seat view, the dashboard does not light up, but it does in the view looking across the passenger compartment.  I checked this with a couple versions of the car, it happens on both.  Knowing how much of a perfectionist you are, Endo, I thought you might care to know.

I do have one more comment to add, however wonderufll they are, shouldnt the fujiwara have abit more performance? Just seem's abit difficult to throw around  But what do i know :) ???

Title: Re: 1983-1987 Toyota Sprinter Truneo (v1.2)
Post by: .endo. on August 05, 2005, 03:35:25 AM
@ signorpigrone: It's a bug with racer unfortunately, when the game is in car view with no HUD then the game doesnt use the headlight model, so the pop ups won't show either, there's a way around it but it means no HUD at all, or you could have one if you don't mind it blocking the dash view... its one thing i really hope can be sorted out in later versions of racer.

@mclanta : the fujiwara is still stock, but it drifts easy enough since it uses the GTapex ini rather than the GTV ini, so you have a LSD, and i think the suspension is a bit better too, its just skill you know, and the GTV is just as driftable, but without the LSD means you've got more of a challenge. Cosmo's got a 4th stage ini knocking about somewhere....so one day it will make an appearance and i'll swap it into the 4th stage car.

Im not complaining at all dont get me wrong :) Its definately very driftable esepcailly with the Limited Slip, Personally i like the black limited the best :) Something about the snowflakes i just love  8)   Overall very nice and defiantely one of my favorite cars in game.

Congrats on this wonderful car, i've been watching closely since the first beta... y'know, the one that was extra-driftable and had a gap in the middle welding the two halves together ;D

but you can call me ignorant, n00b, lazyass or wathever you want, but can someone explain what the diferences between the '83 and '85 models are?

oh, btw, the link to the 4th stage tofu skin doesn't work, but the full car does  :D

Title: Re: 1983-1987 Toyota Sprinter Truneo (v1.2)
Post by: .endo. on August 12, 2005, 12:41:11 PM
The only real difference is cosmetic, the bumpers, front indicators and rear lights are the only diffences, inside there's some changes, like the seats are different (not in the model though.. since i shose the later model seats)

performancewise.. its the same car.. :P

its just for the people that like one version and not the other... then again if they prefer the 2 door coupe, i can't help :P lol

I'll have a look at the link, might be one of those typo's that i commonly do.

Say what? I'm not sure if you actually compared the old and new ini(s) with a wheel - main improvements to the car are in the handling...

Really, great work you have done here, the two of you.  This is one of my fave cars in Racer.  I just wish I had an FF wheel to use, so its easier to drift around the Laguna Seca and Nurburgring.  Looking forward to the latest ini version in the 4th stage model...more power to you  ;D

hi it seems that my computer have something wrong with the textures

for the cell shaded trueno(1st one) the whole care is black with red headlights

for the normal fujiara trueno the car is mostly perfect except it has red headlights as well

i was wondering as well how to set the camera in racer to behind ur car, the only 1 i got to was the one thats like behind the car but on the ground so i cant see anything in front of the car

Title: Re: 1983-1987 Toyota Sprinter Trueno (v1.2)

4ev3r: Seems like you are running Racer version 0.5.0 final or similar old release versions. As it says in the first post, upgrade to at least a version of 0.5.2b74 or higher, I recommend v0.5.2b9.0 or v0.5.3b2.0.
The reason why you get texture and camera errors is that those older version simply didn't support the used commands, yet.

If you change your input device, you also have to reconfigure your controller's ini file located in your data/ctrlsets folder, since some commands like the headlight activation are not showing up in the ingame options menu.
C only toogles between car, track, dynamic and heli cameras, not the individual car cameras, those are accessable via the 1-0 keys on yor keyboard.

For 0.5.3b2.0 it's the data/controls folder - see, it's always a good idea to give as much relevant info as possible when asking for things ;) The default key for lights activation is L, if you want to change it, you need to do so in the controller ini file.

not much really, it sort of got parked in my hard drive, and left to gather dust since the parts i ordered havend arrived yet.

the N2 levin is pretty much ready to rock and roll, so i guess once i get some free time, i can put together the first of the levin releases which will be TRD N2 levin.

I tried digital dashboard, but it seems to don't work in new beta's (053 beta 7), it's just not visible. In interior needles isn't visible too. Is something wrong with my Racer version, or something?

Title: Re: 1983-1987 Toyota Sprinter Trueno (v1.2)
Post by: Cosmo° on December 22, 2007, 12:18:45 PM
If it's what I think it is, nothing wrong with your Racer version. It's probably just that the newer betas are a bit more strict to how you write the views.ini file and the old file doesn't quite follow these rules. Try the attached version and see if this works better.

Thanks for your consideration nizmo, I'm glad that you found the post reply button after all the years of waiting still and then dedicated your first post to this matter. As I'm sure you will have noticed while copying the forum's news header, it actually reads "new cars coming eventually", which surprisingly can be taken quite literally. Since the mentioned news item hasn't been subject to change for a little while now as you pointed out, you can rest assured that there has been no update of high enough relevance for the public to be informed about so far. In the same light, should there be such a dramatic step in development, said news item would be brought up to current standard without hesitation.
On the other hand, there is another topic on this forum that hasn't changed a lot over the years and that is the way we see people who do not contribute to our community and like to stand out of the crowd of leechers by pointing out something they call "lack of updates". If you feel that the amount of freely available content on this forum is insufficient, you are encouraged to improve the situation by displaying or offering your self-made quality material in the appropriate sections.
If this is not an option for you, it would be best not to blame others for the shortcomings of your own productivity.

should I add that requesting releases more than once is a ban able offense? No to mention that your first post was already covering this subject and it was deleted...

that might be a bug to do with racer.

There was a version that was fixed for the angle of the steering wheel, but im not sure if that still works.. though it could be an ini problem because the car was made several years ago before that bug was fixed (so the steering wheel rotates flat instead of at the angle of the steering column

Title: Re: 1983-1987 Toyota Sprinter Trueno (v1.2)

That's probably a missing minus sign in front of the wheel3~wheel_rear.model.offset.x value in the car.ini file - it should read -0.02 to be visually equal to the left hand side.

Post by: .endo. on February 15, 2008, 07:03:21 AM
is this only something that gets picked up in the new betas?
I'm still runing 0.5.3 Beta 2, so i've been wonderig why so many have mentioned this. Also, has the steering wheel angle value been broken again?

Title: Re: 1983-1987 Toyota Sprinter Trueno (v1.2)
Post by: Cosmo° on February 15, 2008, 07:24:30 AM
Should be the 0.5.3 betas or some later 0.5.2 versions IIRC, as the offset feature came back there - but the function itself hasn't changed, it's just a typo in the .ini.
steering.xa hasn't changed in recent years either, it's fine for me, but I'm mostly using my revised files in the cars. I think you had xa=30 there, whereas I'm using 15

hi
It seems that there is some buggy in "Adkurata.dof".(of all skin)
the "QLOG" says that "Empty chunk id in geode 'Adkurata.dof'; probably an old ZModeler buggy export; use dof_fix to correct."
this error was happened with racer V0.6.2 .
but I could run the car with no problem with using racer V0.5.7b3.
(I haven't checked with Racer V0.6.0 or 0.6.1)

has anyone fixed it?

Title: Re: 1983-1987 Toyota Sprinter Trueno (v1.2)
Post by: Cosmo° on August 17, 2008, 10:51:48 AM
The log refers to some left-over from the exporting process, which doesn't influence the driving or framerate performance of the cars effected. You can't fix it yourself in this case, because the mesh files are locked. The normal procedure would be to load the respective .dof file into Racer's modeller.exe, hit the optimize button and export without further chages. dof_fix is a tool that has been provided for this same purpose, though it still needs to be entered manually for all files - via comman line - so there's no advantage unless you can use wildcard slots (more likely with track files).
The log has nothing to do with the specific version of Racer, starting from a certain release, it has always been logging these chunk files.
