Saw this top ten of the most influential AE86s on speedhunters and thought it might be worth trying out here as well. After all, our site's named after those magic dori eco boxes and all...
So get out your interweb geek hats, start the hate and show which 86s rocked your world.

For me, in no particular order:

  • Jubiride N2 Trueno, I admit to not knowing how it fared in racing so it's mainly a visual thing - my favourite 86 bodykits, bright colour scheme but simple and clean overall.
  • Steve Toth's 1UZ sleeper, still a rare swap and in this case not for drag strips, but for circuit racing.
  • Hillclimb and slalom machines such as Marc Roth's Levin, that are still kicking it in our time.
  • C&Y Sports, 2JZ swap, 9s drag machine.
  • Hasselgren Trueno coupe, a clean allrounder, show and go.
  • The 20B wangan monster.
  • Ueo's 2000 Ikaten car, this is really the man as much as the machine, the essential drift style and among the first I saw of 86s.
  • KT's TRD prepped machine, for all the work and money put into his car this is one of the most unassuming looking cars - at least until the wing turned up.
  • Iida's Project 86 Workbox car, a GT racer's teenage dream coming true, with added TRD power.
  • FSR's Group A machine, must be special because Fredrik can throw it around at will and KT can't get it round a corner grin

hmmmm

i would say influencial cars...
the one my dad had back in the early 80s lol... it was the first car i can remember that had pop up lights, and i thought that was madd tyte... (the term jdm didnt exist then, neither did madd tyte, so its more like... darn, that's a swell looking automobile you've got there pa)

Ueo's '02 car
20b Tongue
The Group N cars, advan, tom's minolta, trampio etc.. from the 80s
Iida's car, i still watch the video's of that over and over again... lol
The BP Kraft, i allways thought it was cool... and pointless at the same time.
Hasselgren's i think is a nice piece of kit too...
The purple tech art thing....

and the cosmoto tuned wangan beast Cheesy (since it's given me the most fun)

If the BP Kraft racer is fun but pointless, our wangan machine sure doubles that grin Have to get back to it some day, it's been a while.

well, i wouldnt say totally pointless, but considering the other cars in the field... you kinda have to ask yourself, surely you could use a better car for the JGTC...

though... its only a hachi in essence, since underneath the fibreglass shell its all space frame and modern technology.

Cheesy sure do, really going to have to get a decent home pc, and an internet connection set up so we can start having fun again....

Sad it's been so long since i've gotten to play with the R35
