GTapex 峠バットル 2.5R
T o u g e   B a t t l e   T i m e   A t t a c k   2 0 0 7

Another year, another challenge. RE Turbo G is making sure we get a track to drive on this time.
While that is still being worked on, you are encouraged to start planning, building and discussing your vehicles.
The goal is for you to build either a scratch-made car or a modified ride according to the rules below.
You will then enter it in a time attack event and naturally try to beat your competition for the fastest sector time.
We are keeping the competition strict and organized, but remember that it is supposed to be fun.

This is how it works, you...

  • use the latest stable release version of Racer at the time of actual racing, which we will announce
  • use the track provided by us, the organizers
  • enter one car for which you must document modifications and be able to supply sources of proof
  • drive one car, either your own or a client's
  • provide replay files as means of verification, see note below
  • must have full permission for the car you enter, be it completely selfmade or modified from others'

note: This requires you to release the car to the organizers and competing participants, public release is encouraged but not forced.

There are four classes of vehicles, each of them has specific restrictions and tolerances, the only common rule is that you can't enter fictional vehicles.
Please consider the variety of cars available in the world today, as this competition is not restricted to vehicles of a specific market.
Since money is not of concern here, you may use all parts that you see necessary as long as they are within realistic physical limits and don't interfere
with any of the rules of the corresponding class. The ultimate decision on whether something is considered legal or not lies in the hands of the organizers.

Class A - up to 2000ccm restricted

you must...
  • use safety devices if crash structure is altered
  • retain stock engine type and location
  • retain stock drivetrain layout
  • use street legal tyres

you may...
  • reduce vehicle weight by up to 20%
  • produce up to 350hp @ flywheel
  • use unleaded pump gas, conventional diesel, hydrogen or BioEthanol E85 if stock unit supports it
  • use forced induction methods or combinations of them
  • cancel AWD on one axle if applicable
  • use modified aerodynamics, silhouette must remain

Class B - over 2000ccm restricted

you must...
  • use safety devices if crash structure is altered
  • not exceed stock car's total number of engines
  • retain stock drivetrain layout
  • be using street legal tyres

you may...
  • reduce vehicle weight by up to 10%
  • produce up to 600hp @ flywheel
  • use unleaded pump gas, conventional diesel, hydrogen or BioEthanol E85 if stock unit supports it
  • use different than stock engine, manufacturer free
  • move stock engine up to 100mm fore-after and 50mm up-down
  • use forced induction methods or combinations of them
  • cancel AWD on one axle if applicable
  • use modified aerodynamics, silhouette must remain

Class C - open class

you must...
  • use safety devices

you may...
  • reduce weight up to technical limit
  • produce power in excess of 500hp @ flywheel
  • use unleaded pump gas, conventional diesel, hydrogen or BioEthanol E85 if stock unit supports it
  • use different than stock engine, manufacturer free
  • position engine freely within technical limits
  • use forced induction methods or combinations of them
  • use modified aerodynamics, silhouette must remain
  • use slick tyres

Special-K

you must...
  • use safety devices if crash structure is altered
  • retain stock engine type and location
  • retain stock drivetrain layout
  • retain K-car status with exception of power output
  • use street legal tyres

you may...
  • reduce weight up to technical limit
  • produce power in excess of 64hp @ flywheel
  • use unleaded pump gas, conventional diesel, hydrogen or BioEthanol E85 if stock unit supports it
  • move stock engine up to 100mm fore-after and 50mm up-down
  • use forced induction methods or combinations of them
  • cancel AWD on one axle if applicable
  • use modified aerodynamics, silhouette must remain

All comments, questions, applications and so on go in this thread. If you want to show the progress of your vehicle however,
please open a separate thread in the Racer Editing section and only post the final result in here.
We're looking forward to your creations and wish you all good luck and a good time with them.

edit: gasoline RON ratings removed and replaced with the remark "unleaded pump gas" instead - this and class specific power restrictions should be clear enough.

Please leave a note, whether you are interested in participating, got a remark, idea or question Smiley

バットルNotes.

horsepower ratings are in SAE horsepower.

the only exception of k-car limitations is the power output, which means displ. must not exceed 660ccm, and dimensional regulations are still in effect to comply with current laws. so if your cappuccino is stroked to 800cc and wide, you're in class B.

"must retain stock engine type and location" means the only time you are allowed to swap in Class A and Special K is when the new engine was offered as a base engine for your model as well - not a different year, not a considerably different grade, etc. so "stock engine type" is an engine that was offered in that particular model/year/whatnot, or simply say you start out with that model version that already carries the engine - no swapping in Class A and Special K

"engine type" is the exact specification as in "SR20DET", "M50B28" etc.

so that means no 5-valve per-cylinder 4A-Gs or 4A-GZEs are legal in 86es in class A, or K20s into old civics, etc.

wonder if it's some sort of 3-series or a little touring car..

for anyone wondering..

HANDLING IS KEY!

seriously. set up your car to handle as well as you can.

other stuff is important too, but without handling, you're going to wish you had it.

lol, welcome aboard Forrest Cheesy

RE Turbo G: I think Outlaw has at least 2 different MR machines to choose from that he will most likely use one of. As far as non-FF goes, endo, Made, TtR and me stay on the holy path of FR for sure Smiley

I got the OK from mad_man, so it's now official that I will enter an E12 5-series in Class B, tuned in late 70s/early 80s original style.
