There's a big price span for the E24 mainly because the body panels are very expensive to replace, which means that vehicles with minor damage and wear can cost you a fortune in repair and thus drop the value. Mechanically, it's not too bad as it shares components with the 5 and 7 series, so it's rather easy to get a relatively cheap new engine or transmission for example. You can get a 635CSi for under 2000€, but it'll most likely be only good for stockcar racing then. I've seen up to 30.000€ for vehicles advertised as immaculate and original condition with low mileage (<50.000km). Expect slightly more for an M635CSi and considerably less for the lesser models. A decent 633CSi or so can be had for less than the 635CSi's start at, even with the bigger engines bought seperately, you'd probably end up cheaper overall. That is, if performance is all that counts - with cars like the 6-series, original condition is very desirable of course.
